That's a question I've been asking myself a lot lately. This month I had emergency root canal surgery. My older son has moved back in after finishing college. That's been real. And my younger son is a senior in high school. I have no idea how he finds the energy for everything because I'm exhausted just by being his chauffeur. And nothing about my current story is special because everyone I talk to has their own version of this these days. There's a universal sense of depletion. We're all just batteries. Little potatoes that have been tapped for too long without enough water and light. And aqua yoga is a tool you turn to for a recharge, not a drain. So since yoga is a buffet anyway, what are you adding to your plate? Is it radical Pratyahara (withdrawing the senses)? In mom speak, that's a large pool float with a good beverage and sunglasses to speed up the napping. Or do you need a good challenging flow to dissolve any slow simmering rage? Svadhyaya (knowing yourself) is the only real requirement. So that your practice is filling you up, instead of being another sucky thing. Thank YouThanks to all of you who voted for what aqua yoga classes you want next year. The votes for laminated waterproof vs. downloadable PDF were actually quite close. So I'll be producing both to make it easy for you to get what you need. Those will be available in April, and I will send you all the details in March. Vivarium Some people collect dirt from significant places. Or spoonfuls of cloudy ocean inside jars. Like amateur naturalists, they keep these treasures permanently on a shelf. Of course an amateur is simply a person who loves, who brings love to bear on a particular subject. Returning from one trip I failed to bring back a jar of anything. I stood outside my house where white stitches of snow were dissolving into the ground beneath the evergreens. An unset moon floated over the trees. If I...
